PRIDE Training
(Parent Resources for Information, Development and Education)
(Revised January 30, 2011)
What is PRIDE?
Parent Resources for Information, Development and Education (PRIDE) is a government mandated training program to prepare adoptive and foster families for their role as parents. As of December 31st, 2007 all families in Ontario who plan to adopt must take this training.
PRIDE was developed in Illinois in 1993 and is designed to strengthen the quality of foster care and adoption services by providing a standardized, structured framework for recruiting, preparing and selecting foster and adoptive parents.
PRIDE is a 27 hour course and will be offered by various adoption practioners across the province of Ontario at regular intervals beginning in 2008.
Please look for the list of courses available on the Ministry of Children & Youth Services website or the AdoptOntario website.
